A Fiber Story: Short Film Premier and Conversation

It took an entire year to make one garment out of luxury fiber. Monty Hunter, videographer and Lisa Mitchell, fiber artist, set out to document that process in A Fiber Story.

A Fiber Story is an 11 minute, sensory rich film that celebrates the beauty and transitions of a passing year with unique animals known as guanacos. The meditative process of working with their fiber, creating yarn and patiently knitting the final garment is revealed in tender detail. Stunning cinematography inspires appreciation for the sensuous quality of life that comes into focus when we slow down and make things with our own hands.

Lisa and Monty will lead a conversation about their creative collaboration and the rewards of taking the time to make things at a pace not dictated by an internet infused rush of life.

Light refreshments and samples of guanaco fiber, examples of Lisa’s work and the tools she uses will follow the viewing and conversation.
